The Wii is the 5th video
game console created by the Japanese company
Nintendo. This console has the particularity of using a system able to detect the position, the orientation and the movements of the remote in the space. The code name of the console during the development phase was Revolution.
The design of the Wii is very different from the precedent console of the firm. It is very sober and it can stand either at the vertical or at the horizontal.
The Wii remote is the true innovation of this console. For Nintendo it is revolutionary and it completely change the way people play. This explains the code name Revolution.
The Wiimote as Nintendo named it is connected to the console via the Bluetooth technology and thanks to an accelerometer the remote is able to transcribe all the movements done by the player.
Since its release in the end of 2006, 20.13 million units were sold in the entire world; 8.85 million of them were sold in America, 5.01 million in Japan, and 6.3 million in the other region.
