Tom Clancy is an American novelist born on April 12th 1947 in Baltimore, USA.
His novels which genre is techno
thriller are very well documented and usually deal with the American intelligence and particularly the CIA with cold war or terrorism as main subject.
He is also co-creator of the videogame company Red Storm Entertainment which made
Splinter Cell, Rainbow six...) sold to
Ubisoft and owner of a baseball and football team.
Since his childhood, Clancy is interested by the military world but will not be able to participate to the Vietnam War because of his sight. His studies of literature will make him want to become a writer but his financial situation will make him running an insurance agency.
However his passion for novels will make him write a book inspired by the true story of a soviet submarine and the CIA. This book called The Hunt for Red October will be a worldwide success and really starts the career of Clancy as a writer.
Later Clancy will publish Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger, and The Sum of All Fears which all were big hits as well.
