Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six is the first in a series of
first-person shooter video games. It was developed and published by Red Storm Entertainment for the PC in 1998. It was later adapted for
Nintendo 64, PlayStation, Sega
Dreamcast and Game Boy Color.
The term "Rainbow Six" refers to the director of the organization, John Clark, the hero of various other
Tom Clancy's novels, who manages to set up an antiterrorist brigade composed of elite soldiers from NATO countries, based in Great Britain, on the military basis of Hereford.
Clark has the mission to carry assistance to the police forces of several countries in case of hostage situation or when a tough intervention is necessary...His team leader is Ding Chavez. John is the leader for most of the series, but he is supported by a set of other key staff and advisors who vary from game to game.
