The Sega Saturn is a video game 32 bit console developed by
Sega and released in 1994 in Japan. There were more than 17 millions on units sold and as the
Playstation it used CD rom as support to read games.
Its building was complex because the motherboard had many elements which increased production costs. This console was really powerful in comparison of what was made for the others consoles. That is why it cost around 400$ at his maximal stage. It was the first console to use a double-processor system. It was a real problem for programmers because they can’t ignore that and programming with 2 processors is very complex. That’s why most of them simply decided not to use the second processor. It has restricted the Saturn’s capacity.
It was the last console of Sega which didn’t manage to impose their console despite his undeniable quality. It put Sega in danger and Sega was obliged to redeploy himself in order to focus on video games creation. The old enemy of
Nintendo is now an ally for them and they are working hand in hand.
