Nemesis is a fictional creature of the videogame series Resident Evil created by Capcom. Its name is inspired by Nemesis, the Greek goddess of revenge.

In Resident Evil 3 it appears as the ultimate creature left in the laboratories of Umbrella Inc. It is to some extent the supreme tyrant who wants revenge against the S.T.A.R.S team; his name is thus more understandable.

Nemesis is a particularly frightening enemy in Resident Evil 3. It follows the player on several parts of the game, opening the doors and moving very quickly. All this contributes to give to RE3 a particularly oppressive and simulative environment and rhythm.

Following the game's debut in 1999, Nemesis became one of the most recognizable and popular characters in the Resident Evil series thanks to his famous rocket launcher and trench coat.
