Nastasha Romanenko is a video game character in the Metal Gear Solid series who made her appearance in the game Metal Gear Solid.

She was born in 1970 in Ukraine, in the city of Prypiat, not far from the Chernobyl plant. She and her family were exposed to radiation after the Chernobyl disaster on April 26, 1986. She will discover later that this incident made her sterile.

When her parents died because of the radiation, Nastasha then went to the United States and she joined the Defense Intelligence Agency, where she met Richard Ames, with whom she gets married, but divorce quickly. But three years later she becomes an independent military analyst.

In 2005, her ex-husband asked her to help Solid Snake in the Shadow Moses incident as a nuclear and military analyst and is firmly opposed to nuclear response after what she experienced in the past.

At the end of the mission, Richard gives her gives a disc containing information about the virus and helps her escaping from the Patriots who do not want her to speak about the mission. From then on, Nastasha vanishes, hiding in a secret place.
