Macintosh, or for the most recent models, Mac is a series of PCs designed, developed and marketed by the company Apple Inc.

The first Macintosh PC was released in 1984. It was the first PC that was commercially successful and that featured a mouse and a graphical user interface.

The Mac model developed by Apple had a facilitated hardware system and had its own operating system that is pre-installed on all Macs.

The company experienced difficulties in the mid-nineties; its sales on the PCs market were dramatically declining, challenged by the Microsoft and IBM PC's.

Recently with its new models, new design, and new capabilities the Mac PCs got more and more success, especially the iMac all-in-one released in 1998 whose sales were extremely good.
