First-person shooter video games, also known as FPSs, generally points up shooting and combat from the character's point of view and control. This perspective is meant to give the player the feeling of being the character, and allows the player to focus on aiming, feeling that he is the one who will shoot. Most FPSs are very fast-paced and require quick reflexes on high difficulty levels.
Wolfenstein 3D was the first widely known FPS, and
Doom was the first major breakthrough in graphics. Since the release of Doom, most FPS games now have a multiplayer feature to allow competition between multiple players.
Counter Strike, Condition Zero are some of the very famous games of the past few years in this genre.
