Beowulf

Beowulf is a performance capture action movie released in 2007. This movie is based on the Old English epic poem of the same name.

This movie uses a particular motion capture process like the technique used for the movie The Polar Express. It was directed by Robert Zemeckis (Back to the future) and featured Ray Winstone, Anthony Hopkins, and Angelina Jolie among others.

The movie takes place in Denmark. It tells the story of the legendary hero Beowulf.
Before he arrives in the country, a monster called Grindel, terrorizes the country and slaughters its inhabitants. The king does not manage to put an end to this situation.

The king proclaims that he will give half of his kingdom in gold to any man who could defeat Grindel.

When Beowulf arrives he is known to be a great hero with the strength of 30 men, but he craves for glory and powers; with his companions he declares to the king that he will defeat easily the monster.

After a bloody and hard battle he succeeds, helped by his friends. But we soon discover that Grindel was not alone. His mother a gorgeous and evil demon (Angelina Jolie) wants to have his revenge and she kills all the men in the village.

To kill her Beowulf goes in her cavern. There he discovers that Grindel was the son of the King. The demon offers him to have a child with to compensate the loss of Grindel, in exchange they make a deal Beowulf would become king and would have great powers. He accepts.

Then he becomes king, after the former king commits suicide. Beowulf marries to the king s wife.

For years he rules his country, leads several battles and is always successful. But the child he had with the demon grew up and starts to kill and terrorize Beowulf s people.

Beowulf understands that the demon had only evil intentions and that she used his ambition and his desires for glory and powers. To defeat his son he sacrifices his own life.

The demon is still alive and she bewitches Beowulf s best friends. Her evil influence is a rounding and endless circle.
