Beowulf combines elements from several games of the same genre such as Tomb Raider and God of War , or Conan.
It has been criticized for its lack of originality and the poor quality of its gameplay, and it is extremely brutal and bloody battles.
Nevertheless it also offers some interesting particularities such its mini-games are quite fun and not too much difficult.
In Beowulf the major component is the watered-down squad command you can use to control your Thanes, Beowulf s loyal foot soldiers.
You can command them and give them orders such Go over there, rally around me and so on.
You will play as Beowulf, a legendary Norse warrior, who has the strength of 30 men. You are arrogant and you want glory and power.
You arrive in Denmark to destroy a evil monster from which you heard about in your home country. But you are soon seduced by evil and you claim for the Danish throne.
At the beginning of Beowulf your character will have little abilities, skills, parries and combos. You will have to learn how to use them and throughout the game you will acquire experience and new skills.
Your heroic experience will allow you to unlock an army of up to 12 Thanes.
During the battles against monster you could also use your Carnal Power to make stronger attacks and to use special weapons.
As the king of this realm you will have to face the consequences of your ambition and your defaults, you will have to lead you companions, the Thanes, and your army in battles, to defeat and crush your enemies and protect. But you also will have to slay the Titansof dying Age.
You play through 30 years that have not been shown in the movie of the same name.
Even if the gameplay is not that original and the actions are quite repetitive, Beowulf can be an interesting game.
