Dr. Mario 64 is a puzzle video game released in 2001 on Nintendo 64. The game was developed by Newcome and was published by Nintendo. Doctor Mario must eliminate the viruses contained in his test-tube, helped of his assistant, Peach, princess of the mushroom kingdom.
The aim of the game is close to 'Columns'. Each level has a bottle contaminated by a certain number of viruses, represented on the screen by boxes of colors. There are three kinds of virus: the blue ones, the yellow and the red. To kill them, Mario throws in the bottle, two-tone capsules of two blocks (blue-blue, yellow-yellow, red-red, blue-red, blue-yellow or yellow-red).
These capsules disappear if four of the same blocks color are aligned, therefore to make disappear the viruses, it is necessary to move, turn over and accumulate the capsules to align blocks on a the same virus color. The level is over when all the virus disappear. Each level contains obviously more virus than the precedent.
Dr. Mario has a multiplayer mode in which two friends have their own bottle to decontaminate. Dr. Mario is a combatant in 'Super Bros Smash'. His attacks are close to those of Mario (the first version). The game Dr. Mario is also available on the WiiWare downloading service, on the console Nintendo Wii, developed by Nintendo. This game has also an on-line mode.
