Anachronox is 3D role-playingcomputer game developed by ion Storm and published by Eidos Interactive, released in 2001 for Windows. This is a single-player game.

Anachronox was extremely well-received by critics and was praised for its well-written plot and sense of humor and has now a large community of fans worldwide who praised its amazing soundtracks and its very good cutscenes.

Some critics asserted that the beginning of the game was quite slow but then it is really an addictive and extremely interesting game. Several unofficial patches were released by fans.

The action takes place in a futuristic universe on the planet Anachronox, it contains some references and similarities with Space Quest, and its gameplay was influenced by Chrono Trigger. The alien Anachronox planet sits inside a giant, hollow sphere called Sender One, which is the center of the Galaxy s network of space-lanes.

Throughout the game you will explore several planets and fight your enemies in battles that are a mix of turn-based combats as well as real-time combats.

Approximately three hundred years before the game takes place a number of strange artifacts had been found. Named Mysterium Technology, or MysTech, they were believed by some to have been weapons left by a long dead alien race and believed by others to be an alien artform.

It is believed that Anachronox was home to millions of quarantined aliens many years ago. These aliens are thought to have died from a horrible plague. Anachronox is now largely in ruins and has become the centre of nefarious dealings in the galaxy.

You will play as Sly Boots a private investigator living in a poor flat in the North of Anachronox. But he is in trouble as he sold his detective agency and fell into debt to a mobster named Detta.

He has only a few friends Rowdy, Pal 18 a personal Android and his secretary Fatima Doohan (a digital simulation as she was dead years before).

As you have to pay for your debts you have to get a job, and you are contacted by a mysterious rich man who wants to charge you're with a mission. You will have to find a particular artifact for him.

Together with your friends you start your search and explore the universe but you will soon discover that this mission hides a great mystery and you will have to avoid the destruction of the universe.

To achieve your mission you will to control up to six characters, as you will meet people that can join you or not. You will have to solve puzzles by collecting items and complete several minor missions, and while playing you will be pleased to play the mini-games available within Anachronox.
