Alien Logic is a role-playing gameadventure game developed by Ceridus Software and published by Strategic Simulations, released in 1994 for Dos. It is a single-player game.
Alien Logic was generally well-received by critics and even praised for its originality, graphics (for its time) and the challenging and innovative combats available within it. The environments are unique and intriguing.
Compared to the quite repetitive traditional RPG game, Alien Logic offers really new possibilities and is an evolution for RPG game.
The game takes place in the far future on the strange world of Jorune. This planet was colonized by human beings during the 22nd century, when spaceships have been sent into outer space to discover new worlds able to support life.
Before its colonization the planet was inhabited by two intelligent races that lived peacefully, the Shantas and the Triddle. They even accepted the human settlement and give them a land to occupy.
The human were supposed to be supplied in raw materials and food by Earth, but as a war was destroying Earth, all communication between the Jorune s colony and Earth were shut down.
Because of this the human colony started to expand outside the land given by the aliens. The Shantas reacted and killed thousands of humans. But as the war continued the Shantas almost disappeared and only a few survived.
Then 3.500 years later, at the beginning of the game, the humans are the most populous race on Jorune and the Shantas and Triddle are now just minorities.
You will play as a young human, whose village was attacked four years ago by the Red Shantas (an evil alien group). You managed to avoid being captured but now it is time for you to look for your friends and released them.
A major concept in Alien logic is the use of Isho, a mysterious indigenous energy source. It can be supposedly used only by the native race of Jorune; indeed the Shantas can harness and exploit all the powers coming from Isho, but some rare mutant human can also, and so does your character.
The powers of Isho can be used to create strange abilities and activate glowing spheres of power, called dyshas. These spells can be defensive or offensive and you will have to find places where you will be taught the new dishas in exchange of money and became powerful enough to challenge the Red Shantas.
You will be able to pay by collecting Isho-bearing crystals and selling them. To find them you will have to explore Jorune s ruins. This is a quite long process but interesting.
You will have also to fight in real-time combats with mysterious creatures in various places. During your search you could interact with natives or humans and you will to walk through the enormous Jorune s environment.
