Evil Dead Regeneration

Evil Dead Regeneration is an action game developed by Cranky Pants Games and published by THQ, released in 2005 for the PlayStation 2, Xbox and PC. This is a single-player game.

Evil Dead Regeneration received generally good critics and is even considered as the best game in the Evil Dead game series. It features an entirely and extremely interesting new storyline as well as improved gameplay elements.

As the prior game in the series this game is based on the movie trilogy The Evil Dead and puts the character in similar environment but with new weapons and traditions. It is unconnected to the previous game Evil Dead a Fistful of Boomstick, as it is really a scenario depicting what would happen if Ash did not get sucked back in time.

Ash Williams is locked away in an asylum for the criminally insane, as a result of the events that took place in The Evil Dead and Evil Dead II. Convinced the world thinks he is crazy, the truth is much more nefarious.

His doctor, Dr. Reinhard, somehow in possession of Professor Raymond Knowby s diary and the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis, plans on using the books to bring about his ascension to power. In the process he releases an army of Deadites on the unsuspecting world and it is Ash s job to stop the doctor and put the Deadites back where they belong.

The combats are extremely challenging and particularly great; it includes a finishing move and when you do enough damage to an enemy, it will become vulnerable and start to glow green. At this point you can get close and press a button to finish the enemy off. You will usually see a cool animation of the always gruesome and stylish finish.

Another unique face of combat involves Ash s partner, Sam. Sam is a half-human, half-deadite dwarf who was used as a lab rat for Dr. Vingo s cruel experiments.
Sam is mortal so he can die, but fortunately he comes back immediately so you have the possibility to abuse him freely and in fact it is even encouraged within the game. He can do all what you cannot.

You can, for example, kick Sam at enemies, as he will often latch on and will either hold the enemy for you to finish it off or simply rip the enemy s head off and be done with it.

You can also use Sam to solve puzzles, because you can kick him to areas that your character cannot reach. You can also possess Sam, and since he is smaller than you, and he can get into areas where you cannot go. Sam can even ride on certain gigantic deadite creatures. In other words Sam is really a key character in this adventure.
