Madden NFL 09 is an American Football videogame developed by EA Triburon and published by EA Sports. The game was released for all consoles.
Madden is the biggest American Football franchise in the videogame industry and here is the 20th installment for the series. For this episode, EA hasn't changed much and decided to keep improving what previous games had done.
The game comes with various modes with the usual exhibition match, season, practice, etc. What has been added to the 09 version is new booth commentators, which are getting closer and closer to real commentators, as well as a better pre-game introduction (new coin toss, starting line-up banners, new camera angles, etc.). Also, the sidelines look more alive with more people and reactions to the game. But those are minor details and what is important is the gameplay features. You can tune it to feel more comfortable and better suit your needs. The playbook has of course been renovated introducing new defense and attack plays. The weather will have consequences on the game (players slipping, sliding, etc.). The movements of all the players have been reviewed to offer more control and more realistic gestures. Many other features have been added to bring a more realistic experience but you'll just have to try them for yourselves.
Madden NFL 09 keeps with the continuous improvement from game to game. Never has American Football looked so realistic and fun on a console. What is amazing from this game is that even people who don't like the sport can really enjoy the game. For all the other fans, well Madden 09 should largely satisfy you until next year's edition.
