Final Fantasy VII: Crisis core is an action RPG developed and published by Square Enix exclusively for the Sony PSP.

After the original game, the movie, the ps2 and telephone variables, Final Fantasy VII comes back to its origins with Crisis Core. The game is actually a prequel to the original and focuses on Zack Fair.
He's a member of SOLDIER (group of elite troops from the Shinra Company) trying to become a 1st class just like his mentor Angeal Hewley. During a mission in Wutai, many members of SOLDIER go missing and Shinra sends more to investigate. You are sent accompanied by your mentor as well as the famous Sephiroth. However, during the mission Angeal goes missing and Sephiroth thinks it is a betrayal and leaves. Your quest to find answers begins.

Crisis Core has a unique battle system, all in real time, based on menus and action. You control completely Zack and can move him around the enemies. The system revolves around three reels which spin until there are no more Soldier points. If you ever line up three identical reels, Zack gets a power up making him even stronger. Magics are of course in the game and rely on Materia, which has four different colors (green, yellow, blue and purple) for each type of ability.

Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core proves the true potential of the PSP and brings a true Final Fantasy episode. The game is beautiful, with an incredible story and great battles. You don't need to have played Final Fantasy VII to play this game, but if you have, you'll enjoy it even more. You'll meet some of the characters, such as Cloud and Aerith, and of course the great Sephiroth. Some questions will be answered in this game and you'll discover Zack and Cloud's link to each other. Crisis Core is THE RPG on the portable console and deserves to be played.
