Seal of Evil is an action and role-playing computer game developed by Object Software and published by GMX Media, released in 2004 for Windows. This is a single-player game.
Seal of Evil is a prequel to the game The Prince of Qin; it was generally well-received by critics as it was considered as a very beautiful game that offers an interesting storyline faithful to the Chine se history, but also for many other reasons such as its very complete and well-detailed gameplay elements.
The game takes place in the Warring States period (476-206 B.C.) at the end of the Zhou dynasty. At that time, Qin (one of the kingdom that composed China) gradually became the most powerful state in China and began making an overall plan to conquer the other six states.
Meanwhile, Qin troops kept attacking the Baiyue people living in the southwest of China. The people of East Baiyue, under the leadership of Lan Xiong, then fought a desperate war against the Qin army.
Several years later, Lan Xiong and the Chief Sacrifice Wizard, Chi Huan, died mysteriously one after the other. Lan Wei, Lan Xiong?s daughter, began her dangerous adventure into the Central Plains to find out the truth and make her father live again.
You will play as her, she is a young woman, who became leader of her people after her father disappeared. She is very beautiful and a martial art expert. She will achieve her mission, to figure out who is responsible for her father s death, with her boyfriend (a wizard) and a Beastman (Liang Hu) to find the Empyrean Stones.
The five Empyrean Stones are the remains of a stone tablet imprisoning the soul of a demon. Seal of Evil contains ancient Chinese legends and legendary battles, in which historical figures will be encountered. Seal of Evil also contains the five element system of Metal, Wood, Water, Earth, and Fire.
The five element system is used in character s attributes, equipment, and puzzles, but also in the creation of new items.
Metal influences attack and the power of related abilities. Wood is tied to health points and rate of recovery, while Water fulfills a similar role with respect to magic. Fire affects strike rate and dodging, while Earth impacts defense.
The combat system is real time and the player will control a small party to fight against enemies.
Both heroes (Lan Wei and Liang Hu) start with five points across the board, but Lan Wei has twice as many magic points and a third less health. Looking around a bit more, you can see that she?s a member of the Witch class, and thus primarily a spellcaster.
Liang Hu is extremely good as a close combat fighter. Each of them begins with a melee attack and a magical ability. Throughout Seal of evil you will acquire new abilities and new spells and become more powerful obviously.
