Final Fantasy IV is a role playing game developed and published by Square Enix, in 1991 for the super nintendo and in 2008 for the Nintendo DS.

Final Fantasy IV is considered by many to be the game that launched the series. Back at that time, not many games could offer such beautiful graphics and a beautiful epic story worth a movie scenario. The main character is Cecil, a dark knight serving the King Baron. The king is a merciless leader who seeks the ultimate power using the four crystals. He will stop at nothing to get them and sends Cecil to destroy some peaceful regions in search of the famous crystals. However our hero questions his leader's methods and following some events, you embark on a journey to stop the king and restore peace to the world.
Final Fantasy IV offers a large variety of playable characters that join you in your journey in order to help you to destroy the evil monarch. It's also the first game in the series to have an active Time Battle. You give orders and actions to your characters in real time (with the now-famous action bar that needs to fill up). Defeating monsters will give you the experience to go to the next level and be even stronger. Each character has a certain number of actions possible (fight, magic, item, and unique characteristics depending on the character) and you'll have to decide how to attack your enemies while taking care of your partners.

Final Fantasy IV is a classic of the RPG games and still inspires most of them today. Also, for the ones who never played this game, Square Enix launched a new version for the Nintendo DS redesigning the game in full 3D (introducing cinematic and voice acting) allowing you to discover an old yet amazing reference of the genre.
