Professor Layton and the Curious Village is an adventure/puzzle videogame developed by Level-5 and published by Nintendo. The game was released exclusively for the Nintendo DS.

It's a known fact that the DS is the casual gamer console and we've seen all sorts of games such as Brain Age or simply WarioWare which offer many mini games, but with no adventure at all. What happens when these two genres mix? Well, you get Professor Layton and the Curious Village.

In his testament, the Baron Reinhold left his fortune to the lucky adventurers who would be capable of solving the mystery of the Golden Apple in the town of St Mystere. Many have tried, but none were successful. Until Professor Layton and his assistant Luke decide to embark on the challenge as well. Our two heroes will have to resolve all types of puzzles and mysteries to find answers. But this village is very mysterious and many surprises await them.

As said before, Professor Layton and the Curious Village is a mix between adventure and puzzle solving. In this point and click, you'll need to look everywhere in the town of St Mystere to find the Golden Apple. To advance in the story, you'll have to talk to many characters which will give you all sorts of mini-games to solve. Of course, the game makes use of the DS's touch screen in the 120 different puzzles in the game.

Professor Layton and the Curious Village successfully achieves what no other game on the console had done. The puzzle and adventure genre work perfectly together and on top of it all the game is absolutely beautiful with amazing graphics and cut-scenes. One of the best games of 2008 on the Nintendo DS.
