Full Throttle is a point-and-click adventure game developed and published by LucasArts, released in 1995 for Dos, Mac Os and later for Windows (2002). This is single-player game.

Full Throttle generally received positive and favorable reviews from the gaming press, even if some critics considered it as a short game, it did not prevent it from becoming a classic among the adventure games. It was designed by the same team than for the game the Day of the Tentacle.

In Full Throttle, you direct a character around a 2-D screen and solve a few puzzles along the way. There are a few action sequences. The graphics are cartoon-style like in Sam and Max Hit the Road.

The game seems to take place in a semi-apocalyptic dark future where motorized vehicles are giving way to hovercraft. You are Ben, leader of the Polecats, one of the toughest and meanest biker gangs on the road.

The game tells you the attempt by the mean and evil Adrian Ripburger to get his hands on Corley Motors, makers of real motor bikes with wheels that touch the ground, as favored by our hero.

Ripburger plans to stop bike production and churn out minivans, but before he can do that he needs to get rid of Malcolm Corley, founder and owner of Corley Motors. Needless to say Ben and his gang are soon embroiled in Ripburger s dastardly scheme.

Eventually, Ben is on the run, falsely accused of murdering Corley, the gang members are in jail, and to clear his name he must expose Ripburger. Moreover you will learn much of the story throughout the game in long cut-scenes that are cleverly animated.

Full Throttle also features some interesting gameplay elements such as a portion where the player is required to drive down canyon roads, combating enemy bikers. The fighting is done using fists and kicks, and later chains, planks, and other crude weapons.

But the game, on the contrary of other same kind of games, allows you to die: during the last sequence, it is possible to make a wrong choice of action, or react too slow, hence killing the main characters; this, however, is immediately followed by Ben saying Let me try that again, or Damn and the sequence starts over.

You will have to solve some very easy but interesting puzzles, the most difficult part would be to find the clues but in that case Ben will help you to complete them and will explain you what you have to do.

Throughout the game you will be helped by several characters and you will meet many non-playable characters. You will have to face also several hostile (or not) gangs like the Cavefish, the Vultures or the Rottwheelers.

Full Throttle reviews

Featuring a superb story that borrows from the cult films Easy Rider and MadMax, Full Throttle is arguably LucasArts' finest graphic adventure creation.
