9: The Last Resort is a point-and-clickadventure game developed by Tribeca Interactive and published by GT Interactive, released in 1996 for Windows and Mac OS. It is a single-player game.
This game was not a commercial success but it however received good reviews by the major critics. But it was praised for its beautiful graphics and its particularly interesting storyline; moreover this is also a difficult game that will challenge your brain.
Furthermore this game had a very good cast of voice-artists including Cher, Christopher Reeves, and 2 members of Aerosmith .
9: The Last Resort was launched soon after the release of MystMyst, and like it offers a graphically-rich 3D prerendered world, taking advantage of high-quality Quick Time.
9 features a large act of characters and is rich in character interaction. This game world is full of bizarre environments, objects and creatures. The game world is designed to represent the limits of man's imagination. There is a strong musical theme running through the entire game, and it is also full of humor.
The game takes place in a very unpleasant and inhospitable mansion The Last Resort. It was built by a mysterious man called Thurston Last, and is still inhabited by strange creatures the 9 Muses, the Butler Salty and Isadora (whose mission is to save and restore all your games). But the inhabitants living there fear the dangerous and evil Toxic Twins.
The Last Resort was once a haven for jaded artists where they could soak up the atmosphere and gain inspiration for their masterpieces, but now the Muses are wrecking everything and it will be your job to put an end to their wicked ways.
Indeed you recently inherited the mansion from your uncle and when you arrive to visit your new belonging you are welcomed by Salty but you rapidly understand that your stay is not going to be easy as the squatters, the Toxic Twins are against you.
Your mission will consist of reconstructing the Muse Machine (that gives artists their inspiration) and banish the Toxic Twins.
The last resort welcomed artists but you will notice quickly that they were mostly musicians; indeed the main theme of 9 The Last Resort is musical.
Throughout the game you will have to solve various and difficult musical puzzles and to complete them you will have to collect items in the different levels and areas, so you will need to have a good hearing.
But you will also have minor missions to complete, for example you will have to repair some devices and collect various pieces of the Muse machine that will ease its repairing; but you will also have to find solutions to open new locations.
Some puzzles offer fun and you will need to have a good dexterity to complete them.
