Samba de Amigo is a rhythm game developed by the Sonic Team and published by Sega, released on October 18, 2000. The game was sold in a pack containing a gaming carpet, a small device for detecting movements and a pair of maracas. An episode for Wii has been announced and should be released in the coming years.
The aim is thus to perform songs by shaking maracas in rhythm following the onscreen instructions. 3 pairs of colored circles appear on the screen identifying the positions in which we have to shake the maracas: bottom, top or middle. During the songs small blue balls appear and head to the color circles. Then shake the maracas in the correct position when the balls reach the circles. From time to time the player has to hold the poses of a character that appears on the screen in order to boost the score.
The performance of the player has direct consequences on the background where dance Amigo, a monkey wearing a sombrero, and his friends. If the player makes a good performance the festival will be in full swing, in a flood of colours. However if the player makes a bad performance characters leave the screen which announce an imminent gameover.
The game features many familiar latin songs. There are for example "La Bamba", "Macarena", "Tubthumbing or" Livin' la vida Loca "by Ricky Martin.
Samba de Amigo was unfortunately released in a few exemplary and has a rather high sold price. But those who managed to try Samba de Amigo have spent great moments of conviviality with family and friends.
Samba De Amigo is one of the best music and rhythm games released thus far, and it's the first such game to hit the United States, making it an excellent entry into the world of music peripherals.
