Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn is a role-playing game developed by BioWare, published by Black Isle Studios and Interplay. This game is the second opus of the series of Baldur's Gate. The story takes place in a mature and dark medieval fantasy world. The game uses the rules of the game Advanced Dungeons & Dragons which give solid foundation to the battle system.
Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn offers an exceptional adventure which is the direct continuity of the first Baldur's Gate. In this new episode, you embody the half-brother of Sarevok, a son of Bhaal. Irecenus is a dangerous and powerful magician who manages to imprison you in order to steal your soul.
The battle system in Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn is original and reuses the one of the first opus. Portraits on the left of the screen let you select the character you want. You can pause the game before a fight to give orders before fighting. You will need to pay attention to the various traps that may be on your way. A simple flagstone on the ground can be a deadly trap and can active a complex mechanism whish start throwing on you poisoned arrows!
It's a definitive role-playing experience, and the only reason it can't be called the best game in its class is because in a sense there's nothing available that compares to it.
