Evil Dead: Hail to the King

Evil Dead Hail to the King is survival horror game developed by Heavy Iron Studios and published by THQ, released between 2000 and 2001 for PlayStation, Dreamcast and PC. This is a single-player game.

Evil Dead Hail to the King is the first game in the Evil Dead series. The whole series is based on the Evil Dead movies series produced by Sam Raimi, these movies have a classical horror theme. Unfortunately this first game was highly criticized for its poor storyline and gameplay. But the game is faithful to the movie atmosphere and you will have plenty of monsters to kill.

Evil Dead Hail to the King features the same kind of gameplay than in Capcom s Resident Evil games, and you view Evil Dead from a variety of fixed camera perspectives, kill monsters with your shotgun and chainsaw, and store away items that you do not have enough room to carry in a mysterious box that reappears in several different places throughout the course of the game.

The gameplay in Evil Dead differs from Resident Evil in that it favors action over puzzle solving. The game provides you ample amounts of ammo and health as well as numerous weapons such as an axe, chainsaw, pistol, rifle and obviously boomstick.

The plot takes place Eight years after Ash Williams adventures in the Army of Darkness movie, Ash finds himself haunted by nightmares of deadites. With your new girlfriend and also colleague Jenny you must return to the cabin from the original Evil Dead and confront your past.

But as Ash s evil amputated hand from Evil Dead II plays Professor Raymond Knowby s cassette tape and once again reawakens the evil in the wood. Jenny is taken, and Ash's evil twin breaks out of the mirror. Armed with his axe, his chainsaw, and his trusty boomstick, only Ash can find the missing pages of the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis and banish the evil forever.

Ash manages to defeat Bad Ash Bug, in order to return to home, Ash and Jenny jumps into the Darkness Portal. However, the town they landed in was too empty. A bookstore explained it, someone has translated the Book of The Dead and published it as a best seller, causing readers to translate them out loud and kill everyone in town. The story continues in the sequel of the game.

Throughout the game you will have to face and kill numerous monsters like deadites they are the drones of the dark ones); wolverine troops, skeletons, and so on. Your major problem is that the deadites for example constantly respawn and you often will have to go to the next screen without being able to kill all the monsters of the last one.

Evil Dead: Hail to the King reviews

Evil Dead: Hail to the King unfortunately offers little of the appeal of its source material, as everything about the game is derivative, boring, or just plain bad.
