Luigi's Mansion is an adventure game released for GameCube on November 18, 2001, developed and published by Nintendo. Luigi's Mansion was one of the first games of the Nintendo GameCube. Just for once, Luigi took the place of Mario at the launching of a Nintendo video game console.

The story begins when Luigi, the cowardly brother of the famous Mario, goes visit a mansion he has just win in a contest, but he didn't entered any contest. He normally has a rendezvous with Mario for the visit. Mario being absent, Luigi decides to gather his courage and enters the gloomy manor. Suddenly a ghost makes its appearance and rushes to Luigi. Then a strange character makes his appearance, and armed with a sort of vacuum cleaner drives away the ghost. The mysterious savior introduces himself as Professor E.Gadd, a scientist studying ghosts. The two of them quickly must to go to the cabin of the professor outside of the manor. Luigi learns that Mario has disappeared in the haunted mansion and decides to rescue him. Then Professor E.Gadd lends him the Ectoblast 3000, the vacuum that can suck in ghosts.

The player embodies Luigi, and will have to explore the haunted mansion sucking the ghosts that stay in his way with the Ectoblast 3000. Luigi's Mansion is a kind of childish survival horror. Offering a funny adventure, Luigi's Mansion was a good surprise, awaiting Super Mario Sunshine.
