Dark Age of Camelot is a 3D medieval fantasy MMORPG that revolves around the war between three kingdoms at the end of King Arthur s reign. The game was developed by Mythic Entertainment, released in 2006 to be run on Windows.
It offers two styles of gaming for players: Player versus Environment (PVE) and Player versus Player (PVP), that is to say that you can choose to play alone or you can join other players in a group (between 2 and 8 people).
To play in PVP you will have to connect to a server provided by Mythic Entertainment.
Within the group all risks, responsibilities, credits and rewards are shared. You can, in both cases, decide to join a Battlegroup, which shares some but not the entire characteristic of a regular group.
You create a player and get experience and money by hunting and battling non-player characters (which are controlled by the computer). You will have to achieve quests and tasks, and of course challenge other players to defeat them during battles.
When you get enough experience your character evolves and increases his/her level. The maximum level you can attain is level 50.
The game will take place in several places (catacombs, the city of Albion, etc.) and you could choose your character among three main groups of people: the Albion, the Hibernia, and the Midgard. Each being also divided in groups Lurikeen, Elf, Half-Ogre?
This impressive online role-playing game marks the dawning of a new era in a gaming genre that has steadily gained prominence since Ultima Online made national headlines in 1997.
