God of War is a hack and slash video game developed and published by Sony Computer Entertainment, released in 2005 for the PlayStation2. It is a single-player game.

This game was extremely well-received and had rapidly a large community of fans. It was even considered as the best action game available on PS 2. It was awarded several times, including the Game of the Year honors from the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences.

God of war has many sequels and plenty of action games are based on it. It was praised for its interesting gameplay, its beautiful graphics and soundtrack.

You play as Kratos a muscular, pale-skinned, heavily tattooed Spartanwarrior who really seems to be unsympathetic at first, as he appears to have no feelings and to be able to kill his own mother if she gets in his way. The game takes place at the time of the Greek Mythology .

In reality he has a tortured and souls and craves for washing away the sins of his past. He is the model of the antihero.

God of War gameplay s is a mix of melee attacks, and magic abilities, and you can combine both to defeat a foe.

At the beginning of the game your main weapon will be the Blades of Chaos, it can be used for several attacks, with variations of power, speed and range of damage
Throughout the game you will acquire several magical artifacts such the Head of Medusa , to turn your opponents into stone.

By killing and damaging your enemies you will release orbs. The red one can be used to power up your attacks, the green and blue ones restore immediately your health and magic.

God of War s outset presents Kratos who is about to commit suicide. He throws himself off the tallest mountain, but before he crashed down the narrator s voice starts to tell us what happened to lead him to that.

The action comes back three weeks before and tells us Kratos adventures. You will not learn much about him before the middle of the game.

Kratos is carrying out a mission from the Gods of Olympus. He has to stop the renegade God Ares from destroying the city of Athens. But as a human he cannot kill a god that is why he has to acquire first the mythical Pandora s box.

While playing you will little information about Kratos, divided in small intervals all along the game.

The game is not particularly difficult. Nevertheless if you are locked in one level and that you need to restart, you could do it from the last checkpoint and you could choose a lower difficulty.

You will need to control the combos and to be extremely quick during the battles against the bosses.
