Forgotten Realms: Demon Stone

Ps2

The Forgotten realms is a campaign place created for the Dungeons and Dragons fantasy role-playing game. Most of the time simply called the Realm it became extremely popular in the late 90s, thanks to the wide range of computer role-playing game developed at the time, such as Pool of radiance, Baldur s Gate, and Neverwinter Nights.

Primarily the stories occurring in the Realms take place on the continent of Faerun, part of the world of Abeir-Toril that is an earth-like planet.
The creator of the Realms assert that this is the name of an imaginary world that exists somewhere beyond our own world. This is a strange place with dangerous creatures, and mighty deities; where magic and seemingly supernatural phenomena are quite real.

But on the contrary to the real earth, the Realm is not at all ruled by the human race. The planet Abeir-Toril is shared by human beings; dwarves, elves, goblins, orcs and many other. But this land is not as technologically advanced as ours; it looks like the earth in the 13th and 14th century.
Apparently it appears that in a distant past our Earth and the world of Forgotten Realms were more closely connected. As time passed, we, the inhabitants of planet Earth, have mostly forgotten about the existence of that other world which explains the term Forgotten Realms.

However, despite this past connection, the world of the Forgotten Realms is in many ways nothing like ours. In the Forgotten realms, the dead sometimes choose to walk among the living, gods are interested in mortal matters, a desert seems to have a mind of its own, dragons are always a very real threat, and no tale can be too strange to be true.

Forgotten Realms: Demon Stone reviews

Those who appreciate brute-force, hack-and-slash gameplay should find in Demon Stone a great-looking and enjoyable, if somewhat familiar, experience.

Demon Stone has proven an eye-opener for me: I now understand that most of the love I felt for Electronic Arts' Lord of the Rings games had to do with the license and the cool movie art and trivia I was able to unlock while I played them. Not that either of those games were bad, they were just incredibly shallow.
