Resident Evil Code: Veronica X is a survival horror third person shooter developed by Nex Entertainment and published by Capcom. It was released on Dreamcast, PS2, and GameCube.
The Resident Evil series continue with this new episode entitled Code: Veronica. It's the first game to be released on the 6th generation of consoles and the improvements are clearly noticed. You'll embark once again in a horrifying and intriguing journey for answers.
Leaving the setting of Raccoon city and occurring 3 months after the events of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, Code: Veronica unveils more about the mysterious Umbrella Corporation and the Ashford family.
Claire Redfield tried to raid an Umbrella Corporation facility in Paris but was unfortunately unsuccessful and got caught and sent to Rockfort Island. The Island is completely infected with the T-Virus and to escape, Claire is helped by Steve Burnside (another inmate). However they will have to face Alfred Ashford, the island's commander who will not let such thing happen. He's also trying to wake up his sister, Alexia, from her cryogenic sleep (in an attempt to counter the T-Virus in her body), which will have devastating consequences later in the game. At the same time, the game also follows Chris Redfield who's looking for Claire. You'll see the story from different perspectives and will discover secrets of the company untold until this game.
Resident Evil Code: Veronica X is the first game in the series to use 3D backgrounds and the graphic evolution is impressive. However, contrary to previous games, the camera is fixed in certain angles with the possibility of moving freely. This adds a lot to the horror of the game as now, creatures can appear from anywhere when you least expect it. Nevertheless, the gameplay doesn't change much from previous installments and most weapons and items remain the same. In the couple of novelties, some weapons can be dual wielded, you can now continue after a game over, and the inventory has been improved.
Resident Evil Code: Veronica X brings the series to the Ps2 as it should have been brought. The story is fascinating, the game is beautiful, the gameplay is well thought, and the terror is felt at every moment. You'll be spending all your time looking for the save room with its calming music as it is the only place you'll feel safe.
