Syberia is a point-and-clickadventure computer game developed and published by Microids and the Adventure Company, released in 2002 for Windows, PlayStation 2, Xbox and Nintendo DS. This is a single-player game.
This game was generally well-received by critics from the gaming press. It was praised for its realism and strong, extremely interesting and full of emotions storyline. The action is challenging and since the beginning of the game totally captivating by the game.
Syberia is semi-realistic and semi-surrealistic adventure game in which you play as Kate Walker; throughout the game you will have to solve various puzzles and follow certain procedures to advance in the game.
In this game you cannot die and you cannot get stuck anywhere. The main plot within the game contains a dramatic subplot that is conducted via calls received on Kate s cell phone, involving Kate s deteriorating relationship with her fiancé.
You are Kate, who is a lawyer (an associate with the New York law firm of Marson and Lormont) that has been entrusted by the Universal Toy Company to negotiate the takeover of an old luxury toy and automaton factory. You are sent to the quaint French town of Valadilene.
However you arrival coincides with the untimely death of Anna Voralberg, the sole owner of the automaton factory. But fortunately, you think that something like this might happen, so you have all the proper legal documentation at your disposal.
You mission seems to be quite simple that is to say talk to the notary, get some papers, confirm the deal, and then Kate can return home. But the situation soon appears more complicated; indeed, in her last will testament, Mrs. Voralberg reveals that the company does have an heir.
This heir is her brother, she fought he was dead, but in reality he is very much alive and resides somewhere in Syberia. It is up to you to figure out the whereabouts of Hans Voralberg (the heir), reach him, and get him to sign a couple things. The game is divided into six chapters, and this will keep you busy for a while.
While playing you will encounter people during her journeys, you will typically exchange a bit of dialogue with the other character.
You will also encounter some truly unusual characters throughout Syberia, like the crazed administrator of an abandoned Soviet industrial town who obsesses over an elderly opera soprano who once visited the town during its heyday.
To solve the puzzles you will sometimes need to look really closely at the environments if you want to find necessary objects and clues. But as they are extremely beautiful and well-detailed this is not a very hard task to achieve.
