Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2 is a shooter videogame developed by Bizarre Creations and published by Activision. The game was released on the Xbox Live Arcade.
The 2nd episode of the great Geometry Wars has arrived and it improves everything the first had done offering an even greater amusing game. Get ready to blast off rectangles, triangles, circles, and other mean shapes.
In Geometry Wars, you control a small space ship that can move and shoot in any direction. The point is simple; destroy the most shapes to score points without getting touched. Enemies will appear indefinitely sometimes dropping power-ups to improve your ship or your high score.
But the game would quickly get boring if it really was that simple. Fortunately, Geometry Wars Evolved² comes with many modes to vary the action.
Deadline is simply a time trial where you need to destroy as many ships as you can in less than 3 minutes.
King is one of the most difficult modes since you will have only one life and no bombs. Here, you'll need to enter safe zones where enemies cannot enter or shoot at. You will only be able to shoot from inside these zones but be careful as they vanish quickly.
Evolved is another mode comparable to Deadline with the difference that you don't have any time limit.
Pacifism will prevent you from shooting and you will only have one life. You'll be able to destroy your enemies by passing though gates.
Waves will give you one life and you'll need to destroy waves of rockets that appear on the edges of the screen.
Finally, Sequence, has the ship going through 20 levels in which you'll need to destroy all your enemies in less than 30 seconds.
Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2 takes a simple concept and makes it a great game. Shooters have always been criticized of being too repetitive (like Geometry Wars the first episode) but this once avoids such thing with varied and fun modes. Plus it comes with an on and offline multiplayer mode.
