The political Machine 2008 is the sequel to The Political machine released in 2004. It's a strategic-political game developed by Stardock and published by Ubisoft.
The point of the game is to lead a campaign to elect the new president of the United States. Just like in reality, you will have to do everything a real candidate has to do. You'll travel to all of the American states to raise your popularity and raise money for your campaign as well as give speeches, put ads, etc. The game follows current issues and actual political characters (such as Barack Obama, John McCain, Hilary Clinton, George W. Bush and others). Both parties are of course in the game, Republican and Democratic Party, and there is absolutely no influence from the developers, you choose in which direction you go.
The game play is pretty much, to not say exactly the same, as its predecessor. The game is turn-based and looks like a giant board game. However, it is now completely in 3D and candidates have now bobble heads (just like your Mii character on the Wii console). The game comes with four new scenarios for solo game and online game where you compete against other human candidates. You can play many, many different scenarios as the elections go back up to 1860, for the US.
Political Machine 2008 could be considered as a great extension from the 2004 version as nothing evolves much. But most things have improved and during the last four years, many new issues have appeared adding a lot of content to Political Machine. If you love politics, and you dream of being America's next president well you should start right here for some training.
