Siren: Blood Curse is a survival horror video game developed by SCE Japan Studio and published by Sony Computer Entertainment.
The Siren series are some of the most terrifying games out there. Here comes the latest episode which is actually more a variable of the first one. In August 2007, an American TV crew arrives in the village of Hanuda (setting of the first episode) right in the middle of some sort of ritual involving human sacrifice. If things weren't bad enough, everybody in the village is a shibito, close to zombies. These walking dead have the particularity of doing their usual tasks and obligations. A cop will keep on patrolling the land, farmers will keep working the land, etc. This adds a lot to the horrific ambience of the game. The game lets you use seven characters in the story mode going from the 10-year old girl to the cold and calm doctor. With so many characters, you'll see the game each time from a different perspective with characters having their own unique reactions and possibilities.
The game keeps the gameplay from previous episodes of the series. As to say, you control your character in a third person perspective with the possibility to use over 40 weapons to kill your enemies. The real novelty of the game relies on the sightjacking. This feature allows you to see through the eyes of any other character. It is a crucial element where you're trying to avoid the many shibitos or to find a clue that was missing. It also adds to the aspect of horror as it isn't very reassuring when you see your enemy's sight pointing directly at where you're hiding and slowly gets closer.
Siren: Blood Curse is a terrifying game that will have you screaming till the end. With its innovative gameplay and its unique ambience, you won't get bored one second and will spend hours trying to discover the secrets of Hanuda and mostly, trying to survive.
