Guild Wars Prophecies is a competitive role playing game (CORPG) developed by ArenaNet and published by NCsoft in April 2005. This is the first game of the series of Guild Wars. The game offers an extraordinary adventure in the world of Tyrie. After the tutorial, you arrive in a desolate world destroyed by the Charrs, terrible and wild monsters.
As in most role playing games Guild Wars Prophecies let you create a character, to customize it and to choose its class. Classes are elementalist, mesmer, warriors, monks, necromancer and ranger. The originality is that it is possible to have a secondary class. For example, your main class can be Necromancer and you can also Monk. Although your monk abilities are not so powerful as if it was your main class, this let you imagine clever combinations.
Guild Wars Prophecies is one of the first games of that kind to be totally subscription free. First, most people thought this game is not going to be a success because they thought no subscription system is dangerous. However, success is there and games are sold so well that the company is widely winner and made several updates. The game has also a large PvP (player versus player) aspect and you can immediately create a character to the level maximum which can only be used for this specific side of the game. The rounds take place in arena between 2 teams of 4. There is also the Heroes' Ascent who is played with more players. An interesting element of the game is the GvG (guild versus guild) to compare 2 different guilds between 2 bastions of war.
