Electroplankton is a musical game developed and published by Nintendo. This game is more an artistic work than a real game. It gives you access to different mode of musical creation and it is up to you to create music. It remains primarily a relaxed and experimental work than a real game. You must choose between ten different planktons. They symbolize game modes and different type of musical creation. You can use the microphone, hit in your hands, use the stylus, in order to create music, melodies and different sounds.
In Electroplankton the player has access to different planktons. The Tracy are different planktons which run to infinity, you must trace a route on the screen to generate a melody. The Hanenbow are planktons that you throw on a plant, since plankton touches a leaf that generates a xylophone note. The Luminaria is planktons placed on a grid that generates different sound depending on your way to push them. The Sun-Animalcule are planktons that the player places on the screen and produce melodies. The Rec-Rec planktons are moving from right to left and with them you can record sounds from the microphone and inject it into them. There are also Nano Carp, Lumiloop, Marine-Snow, Beatnes and volvoice that I let you discover!
Electroplankton is an interesting experiment in both music and game design, but its reliance on the novelty of something different limits its lasting value.
