Daxter is a platform game developed by Ready at Dawn and Naughty Dog, and published by SCEA, released in 2006 for PlayStation Portable. This is a single-player or two player Bug combat.
This game was extremely well-received by critics and was also a large commercial success as 2 million copies were sold worldwide. The environments, visuals and gameplay are just gorgeous and extremely interesting; you can play this game whatever is your age.
Daxter is a good adaptation from the Jak and Daxter series that was an extremely successful and captivating game.
Daxter was a human-like persona from Sandover village, during an awful event he was sent into the Dark Eco pit; he managed to fly back out the pit unharmed, but he has been changed into an ottsel, a mix of otter and a weasel. Daxter is also Jak (the main character in the game series) friend and protector.
Daxter takes place in the final months of the two-year gap presented in Jak II, between the moment when Jak is taken prisoner by the Krimzon Guard and the time in which Daxter finally rescues him.
The introduction shows Jak being captured, while Daxter manages to escape. Almost two years later, as he did not manage to rescue Jak, Daxter is in a bar, bragging to the patrons about his so-called adventures.
Of course, this leaves very little impression on his audience, except for an old man named Osmo, head of the Kritter Ridder Extermination Company, who notices Daxter s potential and offers him a job as an exterminator.
Daxter s path towards freeing Jak involves a series of platforms and combat challenges through a wide variety of environments ranging from a high speed transit system to a fish cannery, and all the way to the Krimson Guard fortress where Daxter has to sneak past the guards to eventually save Jak.
Daxter at first refuses the job but the old man mishears Daxter and accidentally imposes the job on him, at which point the game begins. You will play as Daxter and including Osmo, meets many characters that give you objectives and jobs to complete.
Daxter unravels to you the introduction of the upcoming invasion that occurred in Jak II into Haven City. The invasion is led by the Metal Heads who are using bug-like variations called Metal Bugs to permeate the city.
These various jobs take place throughout strip mines, a distillery, a forest, a fish cannery, a construction site, and a hotel. You must also complete many vehicle-related missions, all themed around the extermination of bugs, in addition to mini-games, which are parodies based on popular films such as The Matrix, tBravehear, and The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring that are unlocked through the course of playing.
You will also have to defeat three bosses that you will have to face in various locations throughout the game, they are Metal Bug Hive Queen1 and 2 and Metal Kaeden. To fight against them you will dispose of some weapons the Electro-Swatter (melee weapon) and an extermination tank (which sprays bug spray to stun enemies).
The tank can eventually receive several modifications that include doubling as a type of jet-pack that allows Daxter to fly, flamethrower capabilities, and an ultrasonic attachment. The flamethrower modification also allows Daxter to hover higher and longer in jet-pack mode.
And with the ultra-sonic attachment, Daxter can shoot a projectile resembling a blue grenade that causes high radial damage, but uses one fifth of the player s maximum bug spray.
Wi-fi multiplayer mode of Bug combat is included, where you and another player can use your trained collected bugs to fight each other.
The pint-sized Daxter is every bit as good as its console counterparts, bringing all the best elements of the action-platformer Jak games fluidly to the PSP.
