TOCA's evolution has been a rocky one. Despite the number "3" in this game's title, the series has actually been around a long time. It's gone from stuffy British touring car simulator to poorly licensed junk -- see Jarrett & Labonte Stock Car Racing -- to a melodramatic, story-driven rise through the worldwide ranks of auto racing. Race Driver 3, however, gets the formula just about right: loads of different motor sports to run and very little of the overwrought story to go with them.
