Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII is a third person shooter/RPG video game part of the Final Fantasy VII compilation. The game was developed and published by Square Enix.

Square Enix continues to exploit his historical game with this new derivative following the story of the mysterious and interesting Vincent Valentine. He is one of the secret playable characters in Final Fantasy VII. If you didn't look for him, you could play the whole game without hearing anything about him. Dirge of Cerberus is a game completely dedicated to him focusing on his story three years after the events of the original game. A group of SOLDIER, known as Deepground, appears and starts messing with the peace that Cloud and his friends had such a hard time to get. Their plan is to call the Omega Weapon which basically means the end of the world. Vincent Valentine will have to prevent this at all costs.

Contrary to all Final Fantasy games, this is an action/shooter game resembling to Devil May Cry. You control Vincent in a third person view and you destroy your enemies by using your famous guns. Like in the original, you'll have the possibility to use his limit break to cause massive damage. Since it still is a Final Fantasy, there had to be some elements of RPG such as wining experience from each defeated foe. The use of this experience has however been expanded as they it can also be converted into Gils to buy new weapons or items at the store. Dirge of Cerberus will take throughout all the world of Final Fantasy VII and you'll have the opportunity to meet some of the original cast of the game.

Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII is a good game but could have been better. Square Enix tried to translate its series in an action game but with many flaws. Luckily, the game has all the background of Final Fantasy VII which gives the game a major advantage and makes it almost impossible not to buy for the fans of the seventh episode.

Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII reviews

Dirge of Cerberus tells the interesting story of a memorable video game character, but beyond that it's nothing more than a very generic shooter.
