Referring to the famous film of George A. Romero, ?Dawn of the Dead', the game Dead Rising takes place mainly in a Mall infested with zombies. The player incarnates Franck West, a reporter sent in the town of Willamette in Colorado to verify strange rumors concerning the city. He came by helicopter and discovered a city absorbed in chaos, where zombies roam and chase the few remaining survivors. Feeling the scoop ahead, Franck asks the pilot of the helicopter to drop him on the roof of the mall, and to come back 3 days later. Armed with his camera, Frank West will get acquainted with several survivors trapped like him in the mall and will lift the veil on the cause of the hell in which plunged the city of Willamette.

The player has three days to explore the mall before the return of the helicopter. Each day is equivalent to 2 hours of real time. During this period the player will have several objectives to achieve and will have to use his time carefully.

Regarding the gameplay the game is heavily focused on action. Thus during his wanderings through the huge shopping mall, Frank will have to eliminate the death-living with all the items that are on his way. Baseball bat, pistol, chainsaw, plastic laser saber, bowling ball, casserole, and many other elements acting as devastating weapon or funny gadget that can be picked up and used to wade through the hordes of zombies.
The player can also save the survivors scattered all over the mall and take them in safety, but it is not always easy. Some survivors that became insane are true psychopaths far more dangerous than zombies. Frank will have to confront them and put an end to their bloody madness.

Dead Rising is for all fans of survival horror games and death-living movies, an interesting, fun and fascinating game. With its rich gameplay, Dead Rising is a great success bringing a breath of fresh air to the genre.
