Doom


Doom is a first-person shooter video game developed and published by ID Software and GT Interactive, release in 1993 for PC running MS DOS. It is both a single-player and multiplayer game.

There are two multiplayer modes; in the first you play in team of two to four players against the legions of Hell; and the deathmatch in which two players fight each other.

Doom was a pioneer of the immersive 3D graphics, and of the networked multiplayer gaming. It was released as shareware and known an unbelievable success within a few months.

Many sequels and spin-off
have been created from Doom, but the later games were no more shareware.

Its success was so huge that in 1995 the game was installed on more than 10 million computers. Then it was forbidden to play during working hours.

But it also created problems in workplaces employees spent their time to play and the use of the multiplayer mode clogged computer network with traffic caused by deathmatches!

The game was praise by critics and was even elected game of the Year in 1994, and received an Award for Technical Excellence.

Nevertheless Doom s graphics an interactive violence was also much criticize an outside the gaming world a large controversy took place.

Doom theme is based on science fiction and horror, and the plot is quite simple. The game takes place in a military base in space on Phobos (Mars moon).
A military-industrial conglomerate is performing secret experiments with teleportation between the two moons of Mars.

As the experiment starts a problem happened and monsters from Hell go through the teleportation gates and invade the base, killing everyone and turning the other into zombies.

At the same time the second moon disappears completely. A team of the Union Aerospace Corporation is sent from Mars to Phobos to investigate the incident. But soon the radio contact ceases as well and only one human remains, the character.

Your mission is to stay human and to manage to go out without being killed.To complete your mission you will have to fight through three episodes, each divided into nine levels.

You will have to kill zombies, monsters, and creatures from hell. To have access to the next level you will have to defeat the boss.

At the en of the game as you defeated the Spider Mastermind boss you can go back on Earth thanks to a hidden doorway. Later version of Doom offers a fourth new episode.

To help you killing all monsters you will have a large weapons arsenal available, including chainsaw, rocket launcher, etc; that you can pick up while playing.

You will have to face monsters in large number; in the most difficult levels(difficulty going from 1 to 5) you will encounter a dozen or even more in the same room. There are 10 types of monsters including demons (of different strength), possessed humans and so on.
