Tomb Raider: Legend

Tomb Raider: Legend is an action/adventure game developed by Crystal Dynamics and published by Eidos Interactive.

Lara?'s back! After some late and unworthy episodes, Eidos gives us the 7th episode of its incredible saga. As always you'll have the opportunity to watch her silhouette travel all over the world in search of mystic objects. Here, this is once again a new story but reveals us many things about Lara's past.

Here the story starts in Bolivia where Lara travels to find a stone dais located in the region. You discover that this artifact is probably linked the sword Excalibur of King Arthur. The sword is unfortunately broken into four pieces that you will have to look for in different locations such as Japan, Ghana or even Kazakhstan. As always, you'll enter into beautiful hidden temples where you'll face all dangers and avoid the thousands of traps. All this, in perfect elegance.

After some failed hits, this is the episode that brings us back to some good Lara Croft. The game play has been reviewed allowing better recognition in the controls and mainly more precision (a crucial element when you're hanging to the wall over a spike pit). The developers also added more action with more battles and new action scenes such as the motorcycle sequences but haven't forgotten the true essence of Lady Croft, her unique ability to survive the most elaborate traps. Puzzles have never been so joyful and the action button (to be pressed during a video scene) adds a lot to the realism and will have you on your guard every second you play.

Tomb Raider: Legend is the Tomb Raider we have been waiting for and nothing feels greater than to explore the darkest temples as the sexiest archeologist of all times. For the ones who've never played, this is the episode to discover Lara (or try the anniversary edition as well).

I dunno about the reductive surgery; relic-hunting hottie Lara Croft is still just a sports bra away from suffering severe head trauma every time she breaks into a jog. But Jeremy is otherwise dead right: Legend is that most mythical artifact of all--a good Tomb Raider sequel.

Tomb Raider: Legend previews

I admit that I walked into the Tomb Raider demo begrudgingly. Promises of change and improvement don't hold that much sway with me anymore -- after all, we heard the same sort of talk for Lara's last outing, Angel of Darkness, and we all remember how that one turned out.
