Space Invaders Extreme
The worldwide known game Space Invaders is coming in a whole new game called Space Invaders Extreme and developed by Taito this time. This is one of the oldest games in history coming back in a whole new version for the two handheld consoles, the Sony PSP and the Nintendo DS.
For the (very) few who have never heard of space invaders, let's go back in time. Space Invaders came out in 1978 and brought with it the simplest game play and yet the most addictive. You control your spaceship from left to right and you fire at a block of extraterrestrials that keep coming down, with a mother ship that you had to destroy in each level.
In this brand new version, Taito decided to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the game by completely remodeling it, with up to date graphics, and adding new weapons as well as new enemies. Speaking of those, they don't resemble at all to the ones in the original. They now come in different sizes, shapes, and colors, and have different formations. They'll try to do everything they can to destroy you and it's up to you to use the newly added combos, chains, special attacks to stop them. Also, the bosses don't look anything like the ridiculous mother ships in the original. You now have to fight spaceships that take half your screen.
Space Invaders Extreme also comes with a brand new multiplayer online game for you to fight and keep score with thousands of other players around the world. The point is to simply be the last one to survive.
The original Space Invaders couldn't have had a better gift for its 30th birthday as this new version takes all the best from its predecessor (the music hasn't, of course, been forgotten) and makes it even better.
