Marvel: Ultimate Alliance

Marvel Ultimate Alliance is an action role-playing game developed by Raven Software, Vicarious Visions and Beenox Studios, published by Activision and Interchannel, released between 2006 and 2007 for PC, PlayStation 2, 3, PSP, Xbox and Xbox 360, Gameboy Advance and Wii. This is a single-player and multiplayer game.

This game received generally extremely positive reviews and was considered as a great game. It was praised for its beautiful visuals and its much diversified environments; it also features a large number of Marvel superheroes and villains, and the customization system of the characters is extremely detailed.

The game modes feature single player, co-op, or online play. The different versions are fairly identical. The PSP release has three more game modes, while Wii, PS3 and Xbox 360 have additional levels.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance takes place in the fictional Marvel Universe and features many of the superheroes and supervillains and supporting characters that appear in publications by Marvel Comics.

Among the most famous superheroes available within the game there are Spiderman, the Fantastic Four, Ghost Rider, etc, and many other. Each character also has a variety of costumes that offer various advantages.

Each selectable character has eight different abilities to choose from and one Xtreme power. During Combats be careful because when you use your superpowers it drains your energy so do not forget to restore your health.

Some heroes must be unlocked first. The game also features RPG elements, such as leveling up. When a hero gains a level, they earn points you can use to upgrade their skills. You also collect Shield Coins, which can be spent on boosts for your hero team.

The story reveals that Dr. Doom (an evil supervillain) has united supervillains as the Masters of Evil. Now for the first time ever, over 20 Marvel superheroes come together to stop Doom.

You have the possibility to mix and match your choice of Marvel superheroes, in teams of four as you travel across the Marvel Universe to stop this threat.

Certain teams such as The Fantastic Four and The New Avengers provide additional bonuses; or also a Femme Fatale team (using only female characters). The game also has alternative endings, dictated by the number of optional missions the player completes.

You explore various legendary Marvel locations, from Asgard, to Prince Namor s Atlantis, where you take on foes with punches, kicks and super powers. Super powers drain energy, however, so use them wisely. Combos can be achieved by combining super powers. Your energy can be restored by collecting blue orbs from fallen foes.

Boss battles are like the comics themselves: titanic battles that often not only test brawn but your brain as well.

Marvel: Ultimate Alliance reviews

Raven improves upon the great work it did with the X-Men Legends games, with a lengthy adventure that touches nearly every last corner of the Marvel Universe.

The Marvel Comics stable includes hundreds of heroes. We could probably name two dozen X-Men without even touching the rest of the pantheon. Somehow, though,
