Sonic Unleashed

Sonic Unleashed, also called Sonic World Adventure in Japan, is a console platform game currently under development by Sonic Team, due to be released in late 2008 for PlayStation 2 and 3, Wii and Xbox 360.
This game belongs to the Sonic the Hedgehog series. Sonic Unleashed will feature a quite different gameplay compared to the other game from the series.

Sonic Unleashed begins at the end of an untold story. You will see Sonic confronting his nemesis, the evil Doctor Eggman, bounding around a fleet of spaceships, and transforming to Super Sonic (when Sonic transformed using the power of the Chaos Emeralds) in order to stop him.

Despite all his efforts Sonic is trapped by Eggman who used a powerful new ray weapon which corrupts the power of the emeralds. Eggman then uses the Emerald s energy to unleash a powerful beast from the center of the planet, which has unfortunately devastating consequences, and even shattering the planet into pieces; and consequently it is Sonic s duty to solve the crisis by travelling the world and finding the shrines that will fix the Emeralds, in order to return the world back to normal.

In addition to this Eggman s ray also causes an unexpected transformation to Sonic s state, and it make his progression throughout even more difficult when it appears that the ray and the transformed Emeralds have the unforeseen side-effect of transforming him into a werehog (a beast form with greater strength and abilities) at night.

In Sonic Unleashed you will find many usual Sonic characters (such as Tails, Eggman, etc.), but Sonic will be the only playable character. However there some mini-games available, and in these games the other characters can be used to complete them.
The game features nine levels; and while you advance in the game you will acquire experience points and it will allow you to gain new abilities. When your character turns into the Werehog, he has a greater deal of strength, and you will be able to smash enemies and destruct environments, whilst his stretchy arms will allow him to reach high platforms and perform special attacks.

The levels featured in Sonic Unleashed are based on real-world locations, such as Mykonos (Greece); a long run on the Great Wall (China) and a level based on New York City where Sonic will have to run between skyscrapers. These levels offer multiple pathways for you to follow.

The game will also feature town stages, or hub-worlds, that are set in the same environments as the action stages, and you will be able to walk around the environment freely and speak to townspeople; however, this overworld can be completely ignored, should you prefer to simply play through all the stages.
