Singstar is a series of karaoke games developed by Sony Studio London in 2004 on PlayStation 2. Distributed with a pair of microphones, all the versions of the series are compatible with the cameras EyeToy and PlayStation Eye. In 2004, Singstar received the price of the originality at the BAFTA Games Awards.
The aim is to transform one karaoke video, while you are making a clash with two adversaries. The players sing the song, where the words and the music appear on the screen, and sometimes there's a video clip on the background. Horizontal lines are represented with blocks, corresponding to the tonality of the song. The goal is to sing the most precisely possible, in order to record the maximum of points.
Singstar (2007), is the first episode on PlayStation 3. This new version includes about thirty songs and their video clip. It marks a turning point in the series by proposing a connectivity with PlayStation Network.
A lot of songs and their clips are available on SingStore, an on-line shop which, makes possible to buy the titles by unit (1.49 ?/titre) to constitute its own playlist. The compatibility with the PlayStation Eye camera makes possible to film and to exchange them.
