Resident Evil 5 is a survival horror and third-person-shooter video game currently under development by Capcom, due to be released in the first quarter of 2009 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox-360. This game will feature a single-player mode and an online co-op mode.

Resident Evil 5 is the fifth game in the Resident Evilseries. The gameplay featured in this game will be similar to Resident Evil 4. You will be able to play as Chris Redfield (who appeared in previous game).

Chris first appears in the original Resident Evil game, he is a member of S.T.A.R.S. Alpha Team (an elite squad of policemen) and he achieved several dangerous and extremely difficult missions.

Resident Evil 5 features plenty of new elements; for example the environments will now play a more significant role. Indeed the game implements various lighting effects, for instance if your character moves between bright and dark areas his eyes will have to adjust, causing you to briefly lose some visual of their surroundings. You will be able to take cover and dodge.

If you already played Resident Evil you surely remember the fun and pleasant The Mercenaries minigame, it will be featured in Resident Evil 5 as well.

It will also feature new types of enemies, such as hordes of fleet footed creatures who possessed melee weapons, and they will have human-like intelligence and awareness. You will have to be careful because your character is wearing a body armor, and carrying several weapons so it slows him down dramatically.

Regarding the multiplayer mode, Resident Evil 5 will feature some online elements. The main story mode can be played with two players in co-operative online mode. This mode will allow both players to leave or entre anytime during the game; and both will not always stick together and can be separated at points during the gameplay.

Resident Evil 5 will be an actual sequel to the Resident Evil series, and continues the story where the Resident Evil 4 left off.

The events described in this game take place 10 after the events of the original game. The story features in this game will explore Redfield s life during these ten years.

This time Redfield will be a member of a group known as BSAA, and he is sent to investigate an incident in a desert area (in an unnamed African country) which is near a line of active volcanoes that stretch across Eritrea, Ethiopia and Kenya. Apparently the volcanic activity is threatening to release a previously dormant virus.

The plot featured in resident Evil 5 will supposedly reveal information about the origin of the virus that provokes mutation (and turn dead people into undead creatures craving for human flesh).
