Donkey Kong Country is a platform game released on Super Nintendo in 1994, developed by Rareware and published by Nintendo. The game was reissued on Game boy Advance in 2003.
The history of the game begins during a stormy night. Diddy Kong is responsible for standing guard in front of the incredible banana stock of Donkey Kong. Unfortunately, the Kremlings, led by the great King K. Rool, have decided to take the bananas of Donkey Kong. They manage to knock out Diddy Kong, and steal the precious banana bunches. The next day Donkey Kong finds his banana stocks empty. Then he decided to pursue the Kremlings in order to recover his precious bunches of bananas and make them pay for their recklessness. He is joined in his quest by his friend Diddy Kong. They will travel through Donkey Kong Island, face many enemies and go through many traps. The various members of the Kong family will also provide support to the 2 heroes throughout the adventure.
Donkey Kong Country is a classic platform game. You can access the different levels via a world map, which allows revisiting levels already crossed. You can switch from one hero to another during a level by simply pressing a button. If a character is hit by an enemy, he disappears. To retrieve him, we have to break barrels marked with the initials "DK" scattered in the levels. You can also ride mounts found in boxes. With their special abilities, they can move more quickly and eliminate the enemies more easily. You can find a rhino, an ostrich, or a swordfish in water levels.
With its pleasant gameplay, its beautiful graphics for that time, and its high difficulty, Donkey Kong is one of the best platform games of the Super Nintendo on the side of the Super Mario World and Yoshi Island.

Donkey Kong Country doesn't play any better than other adventure games available for the GBA, but it certainly looks great and offers plenty of variety.
