Jade Empire: Special Edition

Jade Empire is an action role-playing developed by BioWare and published by Microsoft game studio, released in 2005 for Xbox, then released for Windows in 2007. This is a single-player game.

Jade Empire was a very successful game and even had an expansion pack as well as a sequel. It was praised by critics, it was considered as a very good action game and its storyline was acclaimed for its originality.

Some criticisms asserted that the game was too short and that the loading time between each level were too long, but Jade Empire is an excellent game that features interesting elements along with very beautiful visuals and graphics.

The universe of Jade Empire is based on a combination of classic Wuxia¬-kung fu films and Chinese Mythology ( Wu-Tang series for example).

At the beginning of the game you will have to choose your character among the six main characters available (3 male and 3 female). Each of them has different abilities (physical or speed), strengths in magic, and fighting styles, etc. You can also manually adjust each character s stats and change their name.

The game is divided in to 7 chapters. You start to play in Two Rivers a small town on a hidden island on which Master Li trains students at a martial arts school to become deadly fighters.

But the protagonist and your friend Dawn Star are special, and one day, as their training is nearly complete, bandits attack the village, Master Li reveals why the duo is special and sends them out into the world to find their own paths and fight the evil that is threatening the world - or maybe to become the evil themselves.

Depending on your philosophy choice and on your decisions during your quest several ending are available.

You will progress through an adventure based on traditional martial arts and you will be able to discover and develop new fighting styles.

You will have to defeat your opponent during battles that are amazingly realistic and absolutely great visually. During these combats you will be able to switch between styles. The combats happen in real-time and give you the ability to control how and when your character doge or attack.

The traditional RPG stats are replaced in Jade Empire by Body, Mind and Spirit. These primary stats control the secondary stats of Health, Focus and Chi, and the conversion skills of Charm, Intuition and Intimidation.

The Focus stats are used by fighting with weapon styles, or by choosing the focus mode, which slows the movement of other characters and it allows you to attack at higher speed.

You will notice that the game is based on two philosophies that influence the fighting styles. These philosophies are The Way of The Open Palm (selfless and heroic action) and the way of the Closed Fist (selfish and thuggish action).

Jade Empires also allows you to have romantic relationships with several of the non playable characters, as you will meet several of them while playing, even between characters of the same sex.
