Pokémon Diamond is a role playing video game developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo. The game is exclusive to the Nintendo DS.
After having conquered all the handheld consoles that Nintendo has ever created, the pokemons are now invading the DS. The pursuit to become the ultimate Pokémon trainer has started. Will you catch them all'
In the new region of Sinnoh, you'll need to face all 8 gyms leader in order to become the Pokémon league champion. To do so, you'll need to catch pokemons and train them so they can evolve and get stronger. As always, you'll be offered one of three unique specimens at the beginning of the game. Here you'll have the choice between Turtwig (water), Chimchar (fire), and Piplup (leaf). You'll then embark on your journey with your pokedex and try to conquer all the pokemons.
With a total of 493 species, 107 being new, you will need a lot of time to catch them all. Even if the appearance of the game in general has been improved, it's still the same concept and the same view than Pokémon Red and Blue. The view is still from above and you travel between different cities, where you'll have different activities and mini-games. The battles have also kept the same system with very few animations and basic attacks. However, with the touch screen, commands are much quicker and give a new feel to the combats.
Pokémon Diamond follows without really innovating the concept of Pokémon. Even if we could have hoped for some major improvements, the game still remains very addictive and amusing. You'll want to catch them all and make them evolve until... you start playing Pokémon Pearl.
