Once you get over the whole rewriting-the-end-of-the-movie thing, Scarface: The World Is Yours is a competent but usually uninteresting action game.

Having a button with which to spew profanity is a welcome addition to the GTA formula. Specifically, it means that, for once, the protagonist in one of these knockoffs swears more than I do while playing. The other big addition: Scarface presents what looks like a swing meter whenever you interact with pretty much anybody. Want to intimidate someone or, hell, make a deposit at the bank? Swing meter. Every time I try to sell blow to someone I feel like Tiger Woods. The mansion editor is also a nice touch if you like to dabble in interior decoration in between drive-bys, though it's mostly pointless. The only time I used it was to fi ll my office with Port-A-Potties. Weirdly, that didn't reduce my respect meter. Though Scarface may not be as pretty or as technically impressive as other GTA clones, it pulls off some decent dialogue and humor while making an attempt at bringing in a little novelty.

Oh, the blood, the screaming, the senseless violence-- at the ESRB offices. Yep, the sensitive heads at the game-rating board are going to blow apart like that guy from the movie Scanners when Vivendi submits Scarface: The World Is Yours. Vying for the title of most brutal and intense game ever, Scarface may rankle the sensibilities of even the toughest player.
